On October 1, an offline training titled “How to Organize and Preserve Digital War Archives” will take place in Kyiv. The event focuses on practical approaches to documenting Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
The organizers emphasize that documenting the war is not only the responsibility of international organizations or researchers. Every Ukrainian who creates photos or videos contributes to a personal archive of memory. However, it is crucial to understand how to properly organize these materials, store them securely, and ensure future accessibility.
The training will be of interest to museum professionals, historians, archivists, librarians, and documentarians. Participants will learn about technologies for organizing digital archives, safe storage practices, principles of community archiving, copyright compliance, and the experience of one of the largest public archives documenting the invasion — the Ukraine War Archive.
Participants who complete the training will receive certificates.
When: October 1, 2025, 11:00–3:00 PM
Where: Kyiv, offline
Fee: Free of charge
Registration is open until September 28, 2025. Selection results will be announced on September 29 by 4:00 PM. The number of places is limited.
The training is organized by the Agency for Cultural Resilience (ACURE), the National Museum of the Revolution of Dignity (Maidan Museum), and the Ukraine War Archive, within the training program of the Black Sea CER Hub (Cultural Emergency Response, Netherlands).
