On August 22, 2025, a one-day training intensive on saving movable cultural heritage in emergency situations was held in Kyiv.

The event brought together 38 museum professionals, restorers, heritage protection specialists, lecturers, and students of art universities. Participants gained hands-on experience in emergency response actions aimed at rescuing artworks under crisis conditions.

A distinctive feature of the training was practical work at a real site, using objects recently recovered from the rubble of one of the buildings of the Kyiv State Academy of Decorative and Applied Arts and Design named after Mykhailo Boychuk, destroyed by a Russian missile strike.

The training program covered the full rescue cycle, including emergency response procedures, documentation, sorting, cleaning, and stabilization of cultural objects. Special attention was given to a lecture by a biologist on treating mold-affected items, as well as practical workshops with restorers specializing in textiles, graphics, metal, painting, ceramics, and stained glass.

The organizers emphasized the importance of such trainings for developing practical skills and interdisciplinary cooperation in times of war. Information about the results of the next training session, scheduled for August 28, will be shared soon.

The training was organized by the Agency for Cultural Resilience (ACURE), the National Museum of the Revolution of Dignity (Maidan Museum), the National Research and Restoration Center of Ukraine, and Cultural Emergency Response, hosted by the Kyiv State Academy of Decorative and Applied Arts and Design named after Mykhailo Boychuk, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine.
